- 3 ripe bananas (mashed)
- 1/3 cup melted butter (unsalted)
- 3/4 cup sugar
- 1 large egg (beaten)
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- Pinch of salt
- 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 cup chocolate chunks (semi-sweet or dark)
Instructions
- Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×5-inch loaf pan.
- Mash the Bananas: In a large bowl, mash the ripe bananas with a fork until smooth.
- Mix Wet Ingredients: Add melted butter, sugar, beaten egg, and vanilla extract to the mashed bananas. Stir until well combined.
- Add the Dry Ingredients: Season the mixture with salt and baking soda. Gently fold in the flour until combined (don’t overmix!).
- Fold in Chocolate Chunks: Fold in the chocolate chunks, ensuring they’re evenly distributed throughout the batter.
- Bake: Pour the batter into the greased loaf pan and bake for 60 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean (with maybe a few melted chocolate spots!).
- Cool and Serve: Let the banana bread cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely before slicing.
Notes
If your bananas aren’t ripe yet, speed up the process by placing them in a 300°F oven for 10-15 minutes until they darken and soften.
You can substitute chocolate chunks with chocolate chips, or even mix in some walnuts for added texture.
