Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Line two baking sheets with parchment paper.
- In a small bowl, whisk together the flour and baking soda, ensuring an even distribution. Set aside.
- In a large mixing bowl, cream the softened butter with the granulated sugar, brown sugar, salt, and vanilla extract using an electric mixer on medium speed until light and fluffy (about 2-3 minutes).
- Beat in the eggs, one at a time, ensuring that each egg is thoroughly mixed in before adding the subsequent one.
- Gradually add the flour mixture to the butter-sugar mixture, mixing just until combined. Be careful not to overmix to maintain a tender cookie texture.
- Fold in the Ghirardelli chocolate chips and optional nuts, distributing them evenly throughout the dough.
- Using a cookie scoop or tablespoon, drop rounded tablespoons of dough onto the prepared baking sheets, leaving about 2 inches between each cookie to allow for spreading.
- Bake the cookies for 10-12 minutes, or until the edges are golden brown while the centers remain slightly soft.
- After the cookies have cooled for two minutes on the baking sheets, move them to a wire rack to finish cooling.
Notes
For an even more chocolatey experience, mix Ghirardelli Milk Chocolate Chips or Dark Chocolate Chips along with the semi-sweet variety.
