Description

Soft, chewy, and packed with Ghirardelli semi-sweet chocolate chips, these cookies are the epitome of indulgence. Ideal for a quick snack, dessert, or even as a thoughtful homemade gift.

Ingredients

Scale

  • 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter, softened
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup packed light-brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 cups Ghirardelli Semi-Sweet Chocolate Chips
  • 1 cup chopped nuts (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Line two baking sheets with parchment paper.
  2. In a small bowl, whisk together the flour and baking soda, ensuring an even distribution. Set aside.
  3. In a large mixing bowl, cream the softened butter with the granulated sugar, brown sugar, salt, and vanilla extract using an electric mixer on medium speed until light and fluffy (about 2-3 minutes).
  4. Beat in the eggs, one at a time, ensuring that each egg is thoroughly mixed in before adding the subsequent one.
  5. Gradually add the flour mixture to the butter-sugar mixture, mixing just until combined. Be careful not to overmix to maintain a tender cookie texture.
  6. Fold in the Ghirardelli chocolate chips and optional nuts, distributing them evenly throughout the dough.
  7. Using a cookie scoop or tablespoon, drop rounded tablespoons of dough onto the prepared baking sheets, leaving about 2 inches between each cookie to allow for spreading.
  8. Bake the cookies for 10-12 minutes, or until the edges are golden brown while the centers remain slightly soft.
  9. After the cookies have cooled for two minutes on the baking sheets, move them to a wire rack to finish cooling.

Notes

For an even more chocolatey experience, mix Ghirardelli Milk Chocolate Chips or Dark Chocolate Chips along with the semi-sweet variety.

The cookies may be refrigerated for extended storage or kept at room temperature for up to a week when kept in an airtight container.
